GET INVOLVED

The stories listed here are the ones we believe need attention at this time:
this is the reason why you might see different stories as hopefully each and every one of these
 requests
will be answered thanks to your kind effort and support!

BURSARY

All children entering the Calleri ECDC are formed and helped to proceed to further education in the government school at age 6.

They are refused admission unless having the required uniform and school materials.

“Our” 185 kids are below poverty level and are aged between 2 and 5 years old.

Let’s provide them with what they need to continue education and their path to a better future.

You can also support their education by buying a lovely Narlai Sea Sac on thepalmist.club

NHIF

…stands for National Health Insurance Funds.
In Kenya NHIF not only covers the person insured, but also any minor under their care.

Mr. Watchman, who protects the Calleri ECDC from the terrible elephants attacks, needs to be insured...you know just in case the ellies win him out.

CARNIVORE DAY

Up in Wamba, kids go to school to learn, play and have lunch.

For most of them the school meal is the only food they receive in a day.

We shall celebrate the “carnivore day” three times a month instead of once a month!

The celebration consist in slaughtering a goat and cooking it in our brand new stove

HURUMA SISTERS

The Huruma Sisters take care of mentally and physically challenged children which would not be able to survive in the bush with their families.

Due to the very high demand they have started the construction of a new home called Divine Providence Home.

They are asking support to finish the construction and be able to welcome many more less fortunate ones.

WIFI x WCH

In the middle of the bush, rises the Wamba Catholic Hospital with 300 beds + 10 doctors
+ infinite nurses.

This is the modern version of “E.T. PHONE HOME”

Jokes aside, the WCH really needs to be connected
to the outside world.

LINEN LADIES

Once upon a time, there were 4 ‘lovely-linen-ladies’ working hard to tailor surgeons uniforms, bedsheets, hospital cloths and infinite children ward’s pyjamas.

That time blew away and Joan, the one remaining lady, is ensuring this work continues to be done.

Her sewing machine deserves an honourable restyling!
Bonus is with it she will make new school uniforms for our little ones at Calleri ECDC.

New Project 2023-2024

OBJECTIVES

Our centre would provide them real hands-on
short courses in:

CARPENTRY
MECHANICS
MASONRY

METAL WORK

(including roofing and gutter mounting)

TAILORING
(with a workshop on solar cooking).

Students are offered short courses with active on-site workshops for them to learn not only in books but also the real business.

TARGET

This project applies to the most disadvantaged
youths of Wamba.
For local teenagers aged
14 to 19
[Standard 8 leavers]
to learn a skill for employment to gain income to support themselves and their families.

Many teenagers, find themselves in difficult situations without being able to afford secondary education and looking for a job without any skill.

GOALS

Giving youth the tools to learn specific trade/skill empowers them and the people around them: at the Naapu Technical Training [NTT] we will be introducing gutters-making to harvest rain water and solar cooking, by the means of harvesting the sun for smokeless cost free food preparation - these two assets are a first/new for the the majority of the whole Northern Territory.

FUTURE

Empowered young people with a useful know-how.
No risks of becoming part of terrorist groups, recruiting young men in the whole Northern Territory.

Self supporting youth of the village would set up their own shop and generate small income by filling orders of local clients and dealing with Wamba Catholic Hospital daily repairs.
